Tammy & Trey

Tammy and her husband weren’t expecting their son to arrive early, but when he surprised them with his early arrival at 32 weeks gestation, they were thankful for the Women and Infants Center’s Level II Nursery at HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Breese. She was able to stay close to her son after she was discharged. Trey was able to stay at St. Joseph’s in Breese until he was strong enough to go home. Living only 10 minutes away, Tammy and her husband was grateful that St. Joseph’s had advanced care professionals and the technology to keep her son close to her throughout his stay in the hospital.

Designated as a Level II Nursery, St. Joseph’s Breese is able to provide advanced critical care in special situations.

Jeremy, Ronda and Luca

Jeremy and Ronda chose to have their baby at HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Breese because it was important for them to be close to home. Little Luca was born just three days shy of her due date, but her delivery didn’t go as expected. The doctors and nurses were there to calm Jeremy and Ronda of their worries. Due to respiratory issues Luca had to stay in the Level II Nursery for an extended stay. Jeremy and Ronda were so grateful to stay close to home with their little girl. They appreciated all of the information the doctors and nurses provided them and felt relieved that a nurse was by Luca’s side 24 hours a day while in the nursery. They could not have been happier with the care they received and how much the doctors and nurses truly cared for them and their baby girl.

HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Breese Women and Infants Center – Advanced Care for Preterm Infants

Designated as a Level II Nursery, HSHS St. Joseph’s Women and Infants Center is able to provide advanced care when special situations arise.

The Level II Nursery designation means that St. Joseph’s Hospital’s Women and Infants Center can provide care for moderate-risk newborns who don’t require intensive care. Infants born at 32 weeks gestation or greater with common preterm problems such as feeding difficulties and temperature instability are able to stay in St. Joseph’s Level II Nursery instead of being transferred to another location. Term infants who have low birth weight, mild to moderate respiratory distress, require IV therapy or babies who are transferred from Level III (Tertiary Care) facilities are also able to be cared for at St. Joseph’s Women and Infant’s Center.
