Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapists help patients of all ages regain their independence in doing normal, everyday activities.  Therapists often work with patients who have problems with their hands and wrists after suffering from broken bones, carpal tunnel, hand surgeries and arthritis.  They also work with patients who have experienced a stroke, head injuries, or other neurological conditions.

The purpose of occupational therapy is to promote a person's ability to lead an active and independent lifestyle.

Inpatient Services

  • Occupational therapists work one-on-one with patients and their families to:
  • Evaluate a person's ability to return home safely
  • Train a person in self care activities to increase independence
  • Educate a person/family on home equipment needs and home modification recommendations

Outpatient Services

Occupational therapists work to improve a person's strength and/or function in their hand and wrist and to promote independence with all work and leisure skills.  Typical conditionsl treated include:
  • Hand surgeries and fractures
  • Carpal tunnel syndromeOccupational Therapy
  • Arthritis
  • Stroke/Head Injury
  • Paralysis
  • Low Vision
  • Lymphedema management via manual drainage and bandaging techniques
  • Spinal Cord Injury
  • Wrist/hand injuries
  • COPD/debility

How to Receive Services

Occupational therapy services require a physician referral.  We will work closely with your physician to provide you wit hthe exact care you need.  In most cases, we are able to bill Medicare, Medicaid or your insurance provider for the service.  Please contact your provider or our office for coverage eligibility.
