HSHS St. Joseph’s Physical Therapy Staff provide one-on-one treatment to address a patient’s needs in the following areas:

Our physical therapists are experienced in providing outpatient rehabilitation for all parts of the body including back, neck, TMJ, shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, hip, knee, ankle and foot pain. Each treatment plan is customized to meet your specific needs to improve weakness and flexibility, decrease pain, and restore function.

Sports Injuries

Regardless of your age or skill level, our therapists treat all athletes for injury recovery and prevention to help you optimize performance in your sport. Our large facilities allow plenty of room for sport specific drills and high level strengthening activities.

Pre and Post-Surgical Rehab
Lower Extremity Amputations
Neurological Injuries or Diseases

Our physical therapists are experienced in providing outpatient rehabilitation following a stroke, tumor, head injury, or spinal cord injury and help improve function for individuals with debilitating conditions such as multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, ALS, complex regional pain syndrome, fibromyalgia, and Bell’s Palsy.

Our pediatric physical therapist makes therapy fun and relaxed and always provides plenty of time for important parent/caregiver education. We work with any child, toddler, or baby for developmental milestones, torticollis, plagiocephaly, toe walking, cerebral palsy, scoliosis, genetic disorders, and sports injuries.

Physical therapy can greatly enhance the quality of life for older adults. Our physical therapists provide education and treatment for many conditions including arthritis, osteoporosis, fractures, joint replacements, and more.

Fall Prevention

Falls can significantly decrease quality of life and limit independence in the home. Our Biodex Balance and Gait Trainer Machines help to identify individuals at risk for falls and our fall prevention therapists create custom treatment plans to improve balance, reaction time, strength, and flexibility.

Balance and Vertigo

Our therapists provide skilled vestibular rehabilitation for dizziness due to Benign Paroxismal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) and other conditions that cause vertigo. They are trained to help reduce your symptoms of lightheadedness, disequilibrium, nausea, vomiting, and headaches using special techniques and visual re-education.

Worker’s Compensation & Work Conditioning

Work Conditioning is an intensive, work-oriented physical therapy program individually designed to restore your employee’s strength, endurance, movement, and flexibility in order to enable a safe return to work after an injury.

We also offer Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCEs) to determine your employee’s capacity to return to work by assessing their ability to perform the demands of their job or to establish their overall work capacity. This is an intense 4-6 hour evaluation scientifically developed to measure a worker’s capabilities and tolerances.

Women’s Health

A women’s health Physical Therapist specializes in female urinary incontinence, pre-natal and post-partum exercise, and pelvic floor function/dysfunction. Additional diagnoses that can be addressed include vaginismus, pelvic pain, dyspareunia, and vulvadynia.

Cancer & Lymphedema

Many patients experience pain, fatigue, decreased strength and flexibility, and deconditioning during or after cancer treatment. Physical therapy can greatly improve these areas and improve quality of life.

Our lymphedema physical therapist performs decongestive manual lymphatic drainage for patients experiencing upper or lower extremity lymphedema.

Aquatic Therapy

Our aquatic therapy pool features a hydraulic lift chair, a variety of exercise equipment, and water depth ranging from 3.5 to 5.5 feet. Aquatic sessions are located in a heated, private area with one-on-one care. Therapy in the water can reduce stress on weak or painful joints and allow for movement that would otherwise not be possible or difficult on land, which accelerates healing.

Massage Therapy

Our licensed massage therapist brings additional experience as a physical therapy assistant.  Outpatients benefit from skilled massage targeted to their specific needs; from light to deep tissue massage.  Massage services DO NOT require a physician referral and are available at the Healthplex Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday by appointment.  Massage gift certificates are also available. To find out more or to schedule a massage, please call 618-526-5436.

Where is Physical Therapy located?
