Visitor restrictions implemented
Due to an early onset and now increasing numbers of patients with seasonal influenza or “flu” and H1N1 or “swine flu,” St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese is implementing visitor restrictions.
Children 14 years old and younger or anyone displaying flu-like symptoms including fever or chills, sore throat, body or muscle aches, headache, cough or runny nose are asked to NOT visit patients at St. Joseph’s in Breese until restrictions are lifted, said Chief Nurse Executive Paulette Evans.
“We’re seeing an increasing number of these cases and will continue our restrictions until this changes,” Evans said. “We apologize for any inconvenience as we aim to protect our patients, staff and visitors.”
In a further effort to stop the spread of seasonal influenza or H1N1, respiratory hygiene stations with hand alcohol gel, tissues and masks were installed at all hospital and HealthPlex entrances and near the elevator in the Women and Infants Center. Visitors are encouraged to take advantage of these supplies.
Everyone is further encouraged to practice good hand hygiene at all times.
