Holy Cross Sisters meet in Breese to prepare vision statement
Nine Sisters, including several with ties to St. Joseph's Hospital in Breese and/or the area, met in Breese Dec. 28-29 to work on a vision statement for the future of the Holy Cross Sisters. Sister Mary Tobias, CSJ, (seated, second from left) served as the facilitator for the two-day session; the remaining eight Sisters were from the Holy Cross Community. Sister Mary Ann was a registered nurse, staff and head nurse in obstetrics and medical-surgical at St. Joseph's in Breese from 1970 to 1974 and is now the Director of Resident Services at Bell Tower Residence in Merrill, Wis., where the order is based. Sister Mary Zita was hospital Dietary Supervisor from 1970 to 1988 and is now in Food Service for the Wausau (Wis.) Catholic Middle School. Sister Pat was a Mater Dei High School teacher from 1974 to 1979, later served as the order's provincial and is now Associate Director (Business and Finances) with Leadership Conference of Women Religious in Silver Springs, Md. Sister Dorothy has been director of Pastoral Care at St. Joseph's in Breese since 2001. Sister Kathy Wiesneski is Director of Vocations for the Holy Cross Order; Sister Kathy Lange is a Pastoral Associate at Saints Charles and Helena Parish in Clio, Mich.; Sister Pam is teaching at St. Benedict the Moor in New Orleans and will take final vows this summer; and Sister Peggy is the Director of Bell Tower Residence in Merrill. The meeting was held for those Sisters 65 years old and under. The Holy Cross Sisters sponsored St. Joseph's in Breese from 1921 to 1986.
