St. Joseph-Breese welcomes new cosmetic/reconstruction surgeon

Board-certified plastic surgeon David S. Reid, MD, has been appointed to the courtesy staff at St. Joseph's Hospital in Breese and will see patients Wednesdays in the hospital Specialty Clinics beginning April 2.

A cosmetic and reconstructive surgeon with over 20 years of experience, Dr. Reid currently has a private practice at New Dimensions Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery in conjunction with St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville. Previously, he was in private practice at Piedmont Plastic Surgery in High Point, NC.

Dr. Reid received his medical degree from Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC, after graduating with an undergraduate degree in chemistry and math from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

He completed his basic surgery internship and general surgery residency at the Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD, followed by a plastic surgery residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC.

Dr. Reid was on active duty with the United States Navy for 12 years followed by 10 years with the US Naval Reserve, rising to the rank of Commander. He also served as assistant professor in the Department of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD, and in the Department of Plastic Surgery at the Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Va.

First certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery in 1995, Dr. Reid is a member of the American Medical Association and American Society of Plastic Surgeons, among other professional associations, and a published author.
