PATCH Camps set June, July at Breese, Highland; sports physicals set for June, July at HealthPlex

Four PATCH Camps are scheduled this summer; classes will be Monday through Thursday only. Each camp includes 12 sessions and all work is done under the direction of certified athletic trainers.

The first two camps will be offered June 9-26 with the 7 to 9 a.m. session at Highland Middle School and the 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. session at the HealthPlex Fitness Track at St. Joseph's in Breese. The HealthPlex is located north of the hospital along Jamestown Road.

June 30-July 17 are the dates for the second two camps, again Monday through Thursday only, with both the 7 to 9 a.m. and 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. sessions at the hospital fitness track.

Camps are designed for college, high school and junior high students in any team or individual sport. All school athletes are invited to participate; there is no residency requirement.

Sessions are designed to enhance agility, strength, endurance, acceleration and explosive power and work with high school weight training and sport-specific camps. Each participant's performance is tested at the beginning for a benchmark and at the end to measure improvements.

Cost for one athlete to attend one camp is $120; a single athlete can attend both camps—June 9-26 and June 30-July 17—for $175. Team and family discounts are available.

Registration and fees should be turned in by May 9 to be guaranteed a tee-shirt.

Athletes Advantage will also sponsor sports physicals from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesdays, June 4, July 9 and July 23, at the HealthPlex.

Physicians will provide a basic sports physical including a musculoskeletal evaluation; cost is $30. Those entering 5 th or 9 th grade should see their family health care provider for a physical and immunization(s).
