New, returning board members seated

Sister Mary Ann Minor, chairperson of the Hospital Sisters Health System Board of Directors, recently announced appointments to the Board of Directors at St. Joseph's Hospital in Breese.

St. Joseph's in Breese is an HSHS affiliate and both HSHS and the hospital are sponsored by the Hospital Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis.

Stephanie S. McCutcheon, HSHS president and CEO, announced the completion of the board selection and approval process.

"The selection and appointment of the local boards of directors is a tremendous accomplishment for HSHS and our goal of preparing our Sisters' ministry for the challenges of the future," McCutcheon said.

The board of directors at St. Joseph's in Breese includes two physicians and five community members as well as HSHS and Hospital Sisters representatives. Terms began Nov. 1, 2007.

Physicians include Jonathan Osborn, MD, of Clinton County Rural Health with offices in Breese and Germantown, and Erin Gagen, MD, with a family practice in Trenton.

Community representatives include Elaine Behrmann of Albers, Carson Hempen of New Baden, Patrick Hitpas of Breese, John Hudspeth of Carlyle and Paul Strieker of rural Breese.          

Sister Marybeth Culnan, the HSHS senior vice-president for sponsorship and governance, serves as the board chairperson and president and Sister Josine Mondloch is the Hospital Sisters' representative. The hospital president and CEO, currently Interim CEO Lowell Jones, is an ex-officio member.

Board officers include Sister Marybeth, Hitpas as vice-chairman and Osborn as secretary. Ann Carr, HSHS assistant treasurer, serves as treasurer.
