Sister Janice Schneider appointed Provincial Secretary/Treasurer
Sister Janice Schneider, OSF, has been appointed Provincial Secretary and Treasurer of the American Province of the Hospital Sisters of the Third Order of St. Francis.
In her role, Sister Janice will oversee the financial and business affairs of the Province. She replaces Sister Maureen O'Connor, Provincial Vicaress, who served in this capacity for 19 years.
The Hospital Sisters sponsor 13 hospitals in Illinois and Wisconsin, including St. Elizabeth's in Belleville, St. Joseph's in Breese and St. Joseph's in Highland, provide missionary work in Haiti and Tanzania and sponsor Mission Outreach and the Chiara Center.
Sister Janice, 44, is to graduate in May, 2008, with a Master of Arts degree in Health Care Mission from the Aquinas Institute of Theology in St. Louis. In July, 2006, she completed an 18-month post-MBA Fellowship experience at Hospital Sisters Health System in Springfield.
Previously, Sister received degrees in business administration-a master's from Lakeland College in Sheboygan, Wis., and a bachelor's from the University of Illinois in Springfield --and an associate's degree in secretarial science from Olney Central College.
A native of Stringtown, Ill, near Olney, she made her first profession as a Hospital Sister Aug. 12, 1992. Her ministry experiences for the Hospital Sisters have been focused on finance and accounting at various HSHS hospitals including St. Joseph's in Highland.
The Hospital Sisters are an international congregation of Franciscan Sisters founded in Germany in 1844. The American Province, based in Springfield, was founded in 1875 when Sisters from Germany arrived to bring healthcare services to those in need.
