Breese woman wins calendar quilt from St. Joseph-Breese Auxiliary
Madelyn Timmermann of Breese will have no trouble remembering the months of the year, thanks to the calendar quilt she won at the winter raffle sponsored by the Auxiliary at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese.
The drawing for the calendar quilt, which featured 12 blocks, each with a design illustrating that particular month, was held Monday, Dec. 21, at the hospital Gift Shop.
Held the same day was the drawing for the 96-inch by 108-inch Christmas quilt with embroidered poinsettias and holly leaves. The winner of that quilt will be announced when it is presented in early January.
Tickets, at $1 each or six for $5, are now on sale in the Gift Shop for the Auxiliary’s Saturday, March 20, Spring Quilt Raffle.
The 91-inch by 110-inch spring raffle quilt, done in light blue, navy blue and white with light and navy blue points, is pieced with cross-stitched blocks. The quilt is on display across from the Gift Shop at the hospital’s main entrance and can be seen on cable channel 10 and the hospital website, www.stjoebreese.com.
In addition, a silent auction quilt is on display in the hospital Cafeteria Hallway with bids accepted until 3 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesdays. The next bids are due Jan. 12 and Jan. 26.
Queen-sized and baby quilts are available for sale in the Gift Shop and the shop also stocks used books, seasonal and other merchandise.
Auxiliary members additionally sell used books between 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Thursdays in the Cafeteria Hallway. The sale is open to the public.
Proceeds benefit St. Joseph’s in Breese.
