Auxiliary accepting ‘Lights for Scholarship’ donations

The Auxiliary at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese is now accepting donations for its “Lights for Scholarship” program that provides grants-in-aid to healthcare students.

Donations may be made payable to “Lights for Scholarship” and left at the hospital Switchboard or mailed to St. Joseph’s Hospital, c/o Volunteer Services, PO Box 99, Breese, IL 62230-0099.

Memorial or honor gifts are welcome; those interested may include the program in their estate planning.

Since beginning in 1970, 260 grants totaling $124,000 have been given to students pursuing healthcare careers. In 2009, 10 students each received a $500 grant-in-aid scholarship for a total of $5000; grants are presented during the Auxiliary’s annual June luncheon meeting.
