HSHS St. Joseph's SHARE and Auxiliary host Walk for Remembrance on October 7


Almost 400 moms and dads, kids, family members, friends and HSHS St. Joseph-Breese colleagues, Auxiliary members and Share representatives attended the first annual Walk for Remembrance and Hope Saturday, Oct. 7, at Germantown’s Schoendienst Park, Sponsored by the hospital Auxiliary and Share group, the event was held to raise awareness and remember those touched by the death of a baby or infant and to raise money toward an Angel of Hope statue for the hospital campus. Deacon Charles Litteken gave the keynote address; the morning’s observance also included a brief memorial service. before the walk. Share generally meets the second Tuesday of each month in the hospital Board Room and is for parents and families who have lost a child. The Auxiliary and Share Group at HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese hosted the first annual Walk for Remembrance and Hope Saturday, Oct. 7, at Germantown’s Schoendienst Park. A group of volunteers including (from left) hospital Director of Volunteers Judy Schrage, hospital Women and Infants Center colleague Deb Wuebbles, moms Jennifer Wempe, Valerie Bauza, Stacy Stein, Melissa Hopfinger, Stacey Lampe and Amy Knebel and Share Coordinators Karen and Scott Gebke, have been meeting the past several months to organize the walk. The Auxiliary supports the hospital Share program, providing funding for training and resources and supplying clothing and swaddling clothes to families who have lost an infant. Blue skies and sunshine greeted the 400 plus walkers participating in the first annual Walk for Remembrance and Hope Saturday, Oct. 7, at Germantown’s Schoendienst Park. The walk was hosted by the Auxiliary and Share group at HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese and leading the walkers were (from left) Emma Gebke, daughter of hospital Share Coordinators Karen and Scott Gebke, and hospital Women and Infants Center colleague Tracy Mensing. In addition, the hospital Care Committee will host a memorial service for parents and/or family members who have experienced a miscarriage, stillbirth, newborn death, ectopic pregnancy or death of a child later in life at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, in the hospital Cafeteria.
