Are you making good choices when it comes to what you eat?
It's important to make good choices of what you eat, how much you eat, and how often. Doing so can both prevent and manage diabetes.

Are you eating meals regularly?
Eat scheduled meals. Never skip a meal and space your meals evenly throughout the day.

Have you been exercising often?
Get at least 30 minutes of moderate intensity physical exercise daily. 5 days a week.

Do you take your medication as directed?
It's very important in the management of diabetes that you take the medications prescribed by your doctor.

Are you seeing your physician regularly?
Be sure to keep scheduled appointments with your physician.

Are you keeping track of your blood sugar?
Make sure you are checking your blood sugar regularly or as directed by your physician.

Have you had a dilated eye exam this year?
Have a dilated eye exam done annually. Diabetes is associated with eye problems such as vision loss and blindness.

Do you see your dentist regularly?
Those with diabetes face higher than normal risk of contracting oral health problems. Be sure to make appointments to see your dentist.

If you are a woman, have you had a mammogram this year?

It is important to not let the management of your diabetes overshadow other aspects of your health. Women should get a yearly mammogram for breast cancer screenings.

Have you had a colonoscopy recently?
Men and women should get a colonoscopy as suggested by their physicians. According to the American Cancer Society, diabetes increases a person's risk of colon cancer by 30-40%.

Is your blood pressure at a healthy level?
Be sure to control your blood pressure.

Have you had your flu shot for this year?

Get a yearly flu shot as those with diabetes are more at risk for complications and diseases when they contract the flu.
