Vascular Screening Program

Vascular Diseases are among the leading causes of death in the U.S. yet they are generally undetected until a catastrophic event occurs such as a stroke, aneurysm, or amputation. These diseases primarily affect our senior population, and as millions of Baby Boomers reach that status vascular disease is expected to become more prevalent.

The good news is that excellent treatments and detection for most vascular diseases are available at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese.

We now offer a vascular screening program that utilizes non-invasive diagnostic ultrasound to measure our patient’s cardiovascular health. Diagnostic ultrasound can help identify atherosclerosis or hardening of the arteries. And hardening of the arteries can lead to heart attacks, stroke and blockages in blood flow to the legs. Early detection is particularly important to people with a family history of heart disease, cholesterol disorders, high blood pressure, diabetes, or those who smoke.

If you think you might be at risk, call us at 526-5396 to schedule your screening. And don’t worry, our exam is painless and does not require undressing, exercising or drawing blood. The cost of the exam is $120.

At St. Joseph’s Hospital, we continue to identify preventive health initiatives like our Vascular Screening Program to assist our patients in identifying potentially like-threatening conditions before they become an issue.
